Discovering the wine region of Lesvos
The wine region of Lesvos is located in the region of Aegean Sea of Greece. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Methymnaeos or the Domaine Makara produce mainly wines red and white. On the nose of Lesvos often reveals types of flavors of earth, tree fruit or citrus fruit and sometimes also flavors of non oak, oak or spices. Plans to rebuild after wildfire damages rare vines in Crete
Growers in the village of Melambes in Crete saw devastating wildfires cause ‘complete damage to 300 acres (121.4 hectares) of old pre-phylloxera vines’ in July, according to an online crowdfunding page created to support viticulture in the area and help those affected. Fine wine auctions launched in aid of Ukraine crisis
Several fine wine auctions have been organised by the members of the trade in support of emergency relief efforts and humanitarian aid for people affected by war in Ukraine. One auction organised by private member club Crurated brought together more than 250 bottles from coveted producers.
