The wine region of Hautes-Alpes is located in the region of Méditerranée of Vin de Pays of France. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine de Tresbaudon or the La Cave des Hautes Vignes produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Hautes-Alpes are Merlot, Mollard and Chardonnay, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Hautes-Alpes often reveals types of flavors of red fruit.
We currently count 9 estates and châteaux in the of Hautes-Alpes, producing 47 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Hautes-Alpes go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, game (deer, venison) or lamb.
Clotilde Davenne, from the eponymous estate, mentions the cherry as a main characteristic of the Irancy appellation. She tells us about the Pinot Noir variety which reveals, in its northern location of Bourgogne, lots of freshness and fruitiness that gives the appellation a very special place among the wines of the region.
