Aromatic and structured whites with an ample palate and firm acidity, on aromas of linden flowers (hence its name, hárslevelű = linden leaf), honey, apricot, quince, yellow peach and spiced notes. Exceptional aptitude for noble rot. An essential component of the great Tokaji Aszú liquoreux and Tokaji Szamorodni, also vinified as ambitious dry whites at Somló and Eger. The wine region of Pfalz
Fleshy, dry, fruity Riesling is the region's signature: yellow peach, apricot, ripe citrus, lovely mineral tension. Germany's largest red-wine area (40%), with silky Spätburgunder showing red fruit and spice, darker structured Dornfelder, supple Portugieser. Some rounded Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. A 23,640 ha vineyard along the Haardt, among Germany's warmest (>2,000 h of sun).

The AOC regulations specify that a wine is said to be primeur if it is bottled before the spring, and nouveau if it is bottled before the following harvest.
