The wine region of Skopje

Northern wine region of North Macedonia (Vardar valley around the capital), where Vranec was first planted in the 1950s before becoming the national grape. Vranec reigns in red ("black stallion" — Macedonia is the world's leading producer, 10,800 ha): powerful and deep with black blackberry, stewed cherry, plum, chocolate, spices, ink and floral touch, firm tannins, generous alcohol and freshness. Rare Stanusina. Zilavka, Smederevka, Temjanika in whites.

The word of the wine: Herbaceous

Vegetable odour reminiscent of freshly cut grass and considered a defect of the wine.
