A tannin-rich profile adding colour and structure to southern blends. Grown mainly in the South-West (Aveyron, Tarn, Aquitaine) for IGP and VDP wines. French hybrid created in 1954 by INRA Bordeaux (fer servadou × abouriou), a modern teinturier grape.
