The wine region of Bosco Eliceo

Adriatic DOC (1989) between Ferrara and Ravenna, sandy reclaimed soils (bonifica) from the Po and Reno rivers near the sea ("sand wines"). Native Fortana (Uva d'oro) as the signature ruby red, traditional frizzante: lively notes of cherry, strawberry, violet and a herbaceous-saline touch, low in alcohol (10. 5–11%) and pleasantly tart. Supple Merlot, crisp herbaceous Sauvignon and fresh Trebbiano as complements.

The wine region of Emilia-Romagna

Kingdom of Lambrusco: fresh, fruity sparkling reds (blackberry, cherry, violet), from gourmet dry to convivial off-dry, perfect with local charcuterie. World's best-selling sparkling wine on the Emilia side (Sorbara, Grasparossa, Salamino). East, Romagna: supple fruity Sangiovese, Albana (Italy's 1st white DOCG, 1987) ample and almondy. Also red Gutturnio and white Pignoletto.

The word of the wine: Severe

Said of a red wine that is generally young, very marked by tannins and astringent. See austere.
