D.N.A. analyses have shown that it is the result of a natural cross between the sabaté and the callet cas concos (negrella), the latter being in danger of extinction. Grenache is a black grape variety that originated in Spain and is one of the great quality varieties of southern France. Its wines are warm, with aromas of red fruits (cherry) and spices; they oxidize with time.
