The wine region of Groenekloof
Ward of the Darling district (Coastal Region, South Africa), 50 km north of Cape Town at the foot of Dassenberg, ~16 km from the Atlantic: Sauvignon Blanc signature in bush vines (rare globally) with concentrated aromas, Shiraz and Pinotage in reds. Maritime climate strongly influenced by the Atlantic — warm mornings, cool sea breezes in the afternoon, fogs extending ripening. Decomposed red granite soils retaining water — dryland viticulture favoured by south-east winds.
The wine region of Western Cape
Cradle of South African wine. Signature Chenin Blanc (Steen, 20%) in ample, fresh whites with notes of quince, yellow apple, honey and acacia flower, from crisp dry to sweet. Sharp, iodised Sauvignon Blanc (Walker Bay, Constantia), balanced Chardonnay. Reds: emblematic Pinotage with roasted aromas (coffee, plum, smoke), firm Cabernet Sauvignon, spicy Syrah.
