Aromatic, structured dry whites with a pale golden robe, an ample palate and preserved acidity, showing rare signature spicy aromas (fennel, pepper, cinnamon, anise), white flowers and yellow fruits. A unique profile with a very strong personality. Very rare (less than 1 ha cultivated), preserved by a few Béarnais winegrowers and blended with Lauzet and Gros Manseng in heritage cuvées. An indigenous French variety from the Béarn (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).

Historic Bay Area AVA (first US varietal bottling of Chardonnay, Wente clone ~80% of Californian Chardonnay): signature Cabernet Sauvignon dominant (33%) and Chardonnay (22%) as kings, followed by Merlot, Petite Sirah and Syrah. Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc named signatures in 2025. Warm Winkler III climate moderated by San Francisco Bay, gravel, limestone and clay soils. Powerful, sunny reds: dense Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (blackcurrant, chocolate, tobacco, ample tannins), spicy, jammy Zinfandel from the Sierra Foothills, silky red-fruited Pinot Noir on the cool coast (Sonoma, Russian River, Central Coast). Opulent, buttery Chardonnay, notes of yellow fruit and vanilla. Varied climate, from the hot interior to the Pacific-cooled coast. 80% of US production, 139 AVAs including Napa (1st AVA, 1981).
