AVA (2006, south Sacramento County) in the north-central Lodi on the 'tabletop' plateau 21 miles south of Sacramento. Zinfandel is the dense and fruity signature; Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot dominant; alternative varieties Verdelho, Vermentino, Albariño, Grenache Blanc, and Tannat in diversification. Dense San Joaquin series soils (90% heavy clay and gravel), transitional climate warmer than other Lodi AVAs. 5,000 planted acres, recognized quality grape supplier.
