Discover the grape variety: Findling

Aromatic, supple whites with a pale golden robe, an ample palate with moderate acidity, and signature muscat aromas of white flowers (elderflower), yellow fruits (peach) and riper notes than its parent Müller-Thurgau. Accessible and fruity profile. Grown on a few hectares in Rhineland-Palatinate for local cuvées. A mutation of Müller-Thurgau obtained in 1934 in Germany, with smaller bunches and earlier ripening.

The wine region of Bennett Valley

Cool AVA south of Santa Rosa (2003, 650 acres) between Sonoma Mountain and Taylor Mountain: emblematic Merlot signature (42% of plantings) — concentrated reds with black cherry, plum and earthy notes, firm refined tannins. Chardonnay (30%), Pinot Noir and Syrah also remarkable. Syrah on rocky slopes deep and peppery. Crane Canyon lets in fog and winds from Petaluma Gap, volcanic clay soils.

The wine region of California

Powerful, sunny reds: dense Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (blackcurrant, chocolate, tobacco, ample tannins), spicy, jammy Zinfandel from the Sierra Foothills, silky red-fruited Pinot Noir on the cool coast (Sonoma, Russian River, Central Coast). Opulent, buttery Chardonnay, notes of yellow fruit and vanilla. Varied climate, from the hot interior to the Pacific-cooled coast. 80% of US production, 139 AVAs including Napa (1st AVA, 1981).

The word of the wine: Black Grenache

Grenache is a black grape variety that originated in Spain and is one of the great quality varieties of southern France. Sometimes vinified on its own, it is most often blended with one or more other Rhone or southern grape varieties with complementary qualities such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan or Cinsault. Its wines are warm, with aromas of red fruits (cherry) and spices; they oxidize with time. Vinified alone or in very large proportions, Grenache Noir also makes great natural sweet wines in Roussillon (Rivesaltes, Banyuls, Maury) and in the Rhône Valley (Rasteau).
