Ageing potential. Star of the great reds of the Aegean islands, especially on Limnos. Indigenous Greek black variety, one of the oldest cited (by Hesiod and Aristotle).

The wine region of Western Cape

Cradle of South African wine. Signature Chenin Blanc (Steen, 20%) in ample, fresh whites with notes of quince, yellow apple, honey and acacia flower, from crisp dry to sweet. Sharp, iodised Sauvignon Blanc (Walker Bay, Constantia), balanced Chardonnay. Reds: emblematic Pinotage with roasted aromas (coffee, plum, smoke), firm Cabernet Sauvignon, spicy Syrah.

The word of the wine: Tastevin

Metal cup, wide and of low height, being used to mirror and taste the wine. Still used in wine brotherhoods for its emblematic and folkloric character, the tastevin has been replaced by the various tasting glasses.
