Mainly cultivated in the Languedoc region, carignan originates from Spain. Because of its very resistant branches, it is often called hardwood. Its bunches are quite large. Rivesaltes is an appellation for the historic Sweet wines of eastern Roussillon, in the DeepSouth of France.
