A German hybrid created in 1939 at Geisenheim (Färbertraube × Pinot Noir).

Emblematic wine village of the Pfalz (Palatinate) on the Deutsche Weinstrasse between Deidesheim and Wachenheim, with a unique feature: volcanic basalt soils.
