Discover the grape variety: Négret pounjut

An ancient grape variety endemic to the Fronton region in the Haute Garonne that could also be found in La Ville Dieu du Temple in the Lot et Garonne. Today, it is not very present in the vineyard and is on the verge of extinction. It is, however, registered in the Official Catalogue of wine grape varieties, list A. It should not be confused with Négret de Banhars, Négret Castrais or Négret de la Canourgue, and it should be noted that it is related to Prunelard. Négret pounjut is completely unknown in other wine-producing countries.

The wine region of Povardarie

The Republic of NorthMacedonia">Macedonia is a country located in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe. It is quite distinct from modern Greek Macedonia, with which it shares a border of over 160 kilometres (100 miles). The wine industry is dominated by red wines. Production is centered on two indigenous Grape varieties (Vranac and Kratosija), as well as a few international varieties such as the ubiquitous Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The word of the wine: pH

Short for "hydrogen potential", the pH is a parameter that defines whether a medium is acidic or basic. A high pH gives a soft wine, a very low pH translates into a wine that is too acidic.
