A very old grape variety, probably already known to the Romans, and most certainly of Italian origin, from Friuli to be precise. The Hungarian Keknyelu is said to be the same variety, but this remains to be confirmed. 45 kilometres east of Bordeaux, Blasimon is perched on a hillside overlooking the Gamage, a tributary of the Dordogne. Its hilly sites and its calm make it an ideal place to relax. A Village of medieval origin, its origin reflects the traditional organization of the bastides. The city conceals one of the Romanesque jewels of the Gironde, the Benedictine abbey of the X-XIII th centuries.

The word of the wine: White winemaking
White wines are obtained by fermentation of the juice after pressing. A pre-fermentation maceration is sometimes practiced to extract the aromatic substances from the skins. White wines are normally made from white grapes, but can also be made from red grapes (blanc de noirs). The grapes are then pressed as soon as they arrive at the vat house without maceration in order to prevent the colouring matter contained in the skins from "staining" the wine.
