South African district in the Western Cape (cool climate, elevations up to 800 m, Atlantic breezes from Walker Bay, schists, sandstone and clay). Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are the signature cool-climate trio: balanced and complex with preserved fresh acidity; Elgin Sauvignon Blanc finely chiselled, Walker Bay Pinot Noir elegant, Chardonnay well-structured. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Viognier and Chenin Blanc complement. Sub-districts: Elgin and Hermanus.
