The wine region of Alsace Grand Cru 'Bruderthal'
Grand Cru of Molsheim in Bas-Rhin (terraced valley at 235-300 m south-east, brown calcareous soils on hard Muschelkalk and dolomitic Lettenkohle limestone, shallow at the summit rich in gravel, warm and hydrated marl-limestone terroir): Riesling as the majority white king signature — taut and mineral profile, early budding and long ripening. Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer (30% each) as opulent whites, dry and sweet age-worthy wines.
The wine region of Alsace
Capital of great French aromatic whites, most often dry and single-varietal. Straight, mineral Riesling (lemon, gunflint), opulent, exuberant Gewurztraminer (lychee, rose, spices), round, smoky Pinot Gris, floral, crisp Muscat, supple Pinot Blanc. Fine, fruity Crémants d'Alsace, exceptional sweet Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles. 15,500 ha at the foot of the Vosges on varied soils, 51 Grands Crus since 1975.
The word of the wine: Baco 22A
A white grape variety resulting from the hybridization of the folle blanche and the noah. It is the only hybrid to remain authorized in a French appellation vineyard, that of Armagnac, where it thrives in particular on the tawny sands of Bas-Armagnac. When distilled, its wine produces round, smooth and aromatic eaux-de-vie with hints of ripe fruit.
