Bohemian sub-region at the confluence of the Elbe and Vltava (north of Prague), limestone subsoil and sandy gravels, continental climate. Pinot Noir is the historic signature red (imported from Burgundy by Charles IV in the 14th century): fine and silky with cherry, raspberry, woodland floor and a spiced hint, delicate tannins. Saint Laurent (~14% of the vineyard) as a fuller red with juicy black cherries, spice and a chocolate hint. Taut, mineral Riesling as the signature white.
