The wine region of Avdira

PGI of Thrace south of Xanthi (NE Greece, low-altitude vineyards, warmer Mediterranean climate than Maronia, well-drained sandy-stony soils, favourable mesoclimate): Limnio, indigenous northern flagship red — spiced profile typical of ancient Thrace. Assyrtiko, Athiri, Zoumiatiko and Malagousia as aromatic indigenous whites. Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah and Mavrud (Bulgarian Mavroudi) as international varieties. Pamidi in reds and rosés with rich aromatic character.

The wine region of Thrace

Eastern region shared between Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria, a fascinating native palette. On the Turkish side, Öküzgözü ("ox eye") is the signature red: deep ruby with signature notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, plum, spice and a floral touch, supple tannins and lively acidity. More tannic, structured Boğazkere, local Papazkarası. Fresh Narince whites (citrus, flowers, almond), lively Emir.

The word of the wine: Glycerol

Alcohol very present in wine (after ethyl alcohol) and which reinforces its unctuousness and fatty sensation.
