Opulent, heady whites, rich and silky, with intense aromas of apricot, yellow peach, mango, violet, honeysuckle and musky, honeyed notes. Discreet acidity, creamy finish. Star of Condrieu AOC and Château-Grillet AOC, co-vinified in Côte-Rôtie with Syrah (up to 20%). Widely exported to California (Central Coast), Australia (Eden Valley) and Languedoc. A Rhône variety.

Virginia AVA (1983) on the Allegheny slopes in the Roanoke Valley (366–671 m), continental climate tempered by cool nights. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the Bordeaux signatures, produce structured reds with cassis, black cherry, plum and a herbaceous-spice note, firm tannins and ageing potential. Supple Merlot in support. Chardonnay and opulent Viognier with stone fruit lead the whites.
