The Balearic Islands (Las Islas Baleares) collectively form one of Spain's 17 official administrative regions. This idyllic archipelago Lies about 95 km east of the Iberian Peninsula in the western Mediterranean. There’s been a focus on making wine production less energy intensive as well as environmentally friendly in order to address climate change. The efforts continue but, as is the case for electric cars where it’s the battery technology that needs innovating, it’s in wine bottles where we’re seeing rapid change. Global demand for New Zealand wine saw exports rise by 9% to NZ$599m (£315m) in the first quarter of the new export year, to the end of September 2021, according to the latest data from New Zealand Winegrowers (NZW).
