Florida is a state located in the southeast corner of the United States. It is bordered by Alabama and Georgia to the North, the Gulf of Mexico to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The state covers an area of 66,500 square miles (170,000 square km) between latitudes 24°N and 31°N. It is a similar distance from the equator and the North Sea.
It is at a similar distance from the equator as Baja California in Mexico and the deserts of the Middle East. So it may seem unlikely that this hot, humid state would be able to support viticulture, but Florida actually has a booming wine industry. ‘Historical Super Tuscan’ producers unite under new association
Sixteen founding members launched the new ‘historical’ SuperTuscan wine committee in Florence last week. Paolo Panerai, of Castellare di Castellina, is president of the newly formed Comitato Historical Super Tuscans, with Davide Profeti, of San Felice, as vice-president.
