The wine region of Sutherland-Karoo is located in the region of Northern Cape of South Africa. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Mount Sutherland or the Domaine Mount Sutherland produce mainly wines red. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Sutherland-Karoo are Tempranillo, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Sutherland-Karoo often reveals types of flavors of non oak, earth or microbio and sometimes also flavors of vegetal, oak or spices.
In the mouth of Sutherland-Karoo is a powerful with a nice balance between acidity and tannins. We currently count 1 estates and châteaux in the of Sutherland-Karoo, producing 2 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Sutherland-Karoo go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or game (deer, venison).
