The wine region of Pantelleria is located in the region of Sicile of Italy. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Cantina Basile or the Domaine Salvatore Murana produce mainly wines white, sweet and red. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Pantelleria are Nero d'Avola, Cabernet franc and Viognier, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Pantelleria often reveals types of flavors of non oak, oak or citrus fruit and sometimes also flavors of earth, tropical fruit.
In the mouth of Pantelleria is a powerful. We currently count 20 estates and châteaux in the of Pantelleria, producing 36 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Pantelleria go well with generally quite well with dishes of shellfish, vegetarian or appetizers and snacks.
In a year when travel was almost impossible, wine has been a fine companion. In terms of varieties I have been drinking a vinous A to Z: everything from Albillo (Cebreros) to Zibibbo (Pantelleria, Italy). Specifically I have been enjoying Cariñena from Priorat and Rioja, plus Garnachas – white, red and hairy – from Terra Alta, Rioja and Gredos, as well as Greek Xinomavro from Naoussa and Xarel.lo from Catalunya.
