It is said to be the result of a cross between the Muscat d'Alexandrie and the Listan Prieto Noir, also known as Criolla Chica. Nahe is one of the smaller German wine regions, named after the Nahe river which joins the Rhein at Rheinhessen/bingen">Bingen.
