DOC of northern Lazio (Viterbo, eastern slopes of the Cimini hills facing the Tiber, ~13,400 ha), volcanic tufa soils. Sangiovese (≥50%, complemented by Ciliegiolo) is the signature red: lively and fruity with cherry, raspberry, red fruits, spices and a balsamic-volcanic finish, rounded tannins. Greco di Vignanello (≥85%) is the signature white: mineral and structured with white fruits, flowers and a saline-volcanic note. Trebbiano and Malvasia in fresh whites.
