Intensely coloured, structured reds with a dark ruby robe, firm tannins and a dense palate of blackfruit (blackberry, blackcurrant, plum), cherry, spices, black pepper and balsamic notes. A tannin-rich profile adding colour and structure to southern blends. Grown mainly in the South-West (Aveyron, Tarn, Aquitaine) for IGP and VDP wines. Lombard DOC in the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia (since 1976). Bordeaux-style blend signatures in red: Merlot (40-90%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10-60%) with blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, cedar, tobacco and a herbal touch, firm tannins, min. 1 year ageing (3 years in Riserva). Fresh white Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco with Pinot Grigio (citrus, apple, white flowers).
