Full-coloured and structured reds with a deep ruby colour, firm tannins and dense palate, with simple aromas of black fruit (blackberry, blackcurrant), spices and herbaceous notes. Now rare in France, it features in traditional and heritage Bordeaux blends. Still grown in California and Australia under this name for specialist vineyards.
