The wine region of Piedmont
Piedmont (Piemonte) holds an unrivalled place among the world's finest wine regions. Located in northwestern Italy, it is home to more DOCG wines than any other Italian region, including such well-known and respected names as Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera d'Asti. Quantity of grapes harvested per hectare. In AOC, the average yield is limited on the proposal of the appellation syndicate, validated by the Inao. This is not without consequences on the quality of the wines (dilution) and on the state of the market (too much wine).
