Made as dry whites (Gaillac AOC), sweet passito-style wines and especially iconic sparkling wines: Blanquette de Limoux AOC and Blanquette méthode ancestrale AOC (the oldest documented sparkling method, 1531 at Saint-Hilaire). Western and largest sub-zone of DOCa Rioja, poor limestone soils, continental climate tempered by the Sierra Cantabria. Tempranillo is the signature red king: elegant and fresh with cherry, plum, ripe strawberry, leather, vanilla, tobacco and balsamic notes from long aging in American oak, fine tannins and lively acidity — reference for great Reserva and Gran Reserva.
