A very old vine cultivated in the northwest of Italy, in Piedmont to be precise (provinces of Asti and Allessandria). For a long time it was confused with a large number of other Italian grape varieties, which explains why the latter still bear the synonym "brachetto". The wine region of Südoststeiermark is located in the region of Steiermark of Steirerland of Austria. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Neumeister or the Domaine Winkler-Hermaden produce mainly wines white, red and sparkling. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Südoststeiermark are Zweigelt, Gewurztraminer and Chardonnay, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety.
