Discover the grape variety: Gaillard 2

Interspecific cross between an othello-rupestris and the noah obtained in 1885 by Fernand Gaillard. In the 1960s, Gaillard 2 still represented nearly 4,000 hectares, particularly in the Centre-West and Burgundy regions. Today, it has practically disappeared.

The wine region of Rio Grande do Sul

Rio Grande do Sul is Brazil's most prolific wine-producing state. It is located in the very South of the country along the Uruguayan and Argentinian borders. The wine regions of Serra Gaucha, Campanha and Vale do Vinhedos can be found in this Part of the country. Soft, light red wines from a range of varieties such as Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat are made here.

The word of the wine: Black Grenache

Grenache is a black grape variety that originated in Spain and is one of the great quality varieties of southern France. Sometimes vinified on its own, it is most often blended with one or more other Rhone or southern grape varieties with complementary qualities such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan or Cinsault. Its wines are warm, with aromas of red fruits (cherry) and spices; they oxidize with time. Vinified alone or in very large proportions, Grenache Noir also makes great natural sweet wines in Roussillon (Rivesaltes, Banyuls, Maury) and in the Rhône Valley (Rasteau).
