Nierstein is significant town and wine-growing region in Rheinhessen, Germany. It sits on the banks of the Rhine river between the cities of Mainz and Worms, and also lends its name to one of Rheinhessen's three Bereiche (wine districts). The town's viticultural area is the second-largest wine-growing Center in Rheinhessen, with 783 hectares (1935 acres) under Vine. A natural compound contained in the skin of the grape, the seed or the woody part of the bunch, the stalk. The maceration of red wines allows the extraction of tannins, which give the texture, the solidity and also the mellowness when the tannins are "ripe". The winemaker seeks above all to extract the tannins from the skin, the ripest and most noble.
