Nestled in the Mayacamas hills, which separate Napa Valley from Sonoma, the Mayacamas Vineyard is an iconic, internationally renowned winery. For over 125 years, the winery has produced some of the region's finest wines, a legacy of a wine-producing tradition that dates back to the arrival of the first European immigrants. Situated at an altitude of 600 to 2400 feet (around 183 to 732 meters above sea level), the Mayacamas Vineyard offers spectacular panoramas over the entirety of Napa Valley. More than just a feast for the eyes, this elevated position provides ideal grape-growing conditions. The vineyards are surrounded by a dense forest of sequoias and oaks, creating a unique microclimate with more moderate temperatures than in the valley below. The estate distinguishes itself with its dedication to traditional winemaking methods, which allow for preserving the purity of the fruit and expressing the terroir. The cultivated grape varieties are mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Production is made in limited quantities to ensure the best possible quality. Mayacamas wines are often reputed for their exceptional aging potential. Over the years, Mayacamas Vineyard has managed to preserve its authentic and rustic character. The wine cellars are housed in a stone building dating back to 1889, visitors are invited to taste wines in a room with crude stone walls, lit by hanging lanterns. Time seems to have stopped in this part of Napa Valley, creating a rustic and peaceful atmosphere that is captured in each bottle of wine produced by the estate.
