The wine region of Alsace Grand Cru 'Praelatenberg'
Grand Cru of Kintzheim and Orschwiller at the geographical heart of Alsace (18. 70 ha at the Bas-Rhin/Haut-Rhin border, south-east facing, brown acidic soils over metamorphic gneiss, deep sandy-clay silt, classified 1992, cultivated since the 9th century by monks). Riesling and Gewurztraminer as dominant flagships — crystalline, elegant minerality transmitted by the gneiss, distinctive finesse. Pinot Gris and Muscat as complements.
The wine region of Alsace
Capital of great French aromatic whites, most often dry and single-varietal. Straight, mineral Riesling (lemon, gunflint), opulent, exuberant Gewurztraminer (lychee, rose, spices), round, smoky Pinot Gris, floral, crisp Muscat, supple Pinot Blanc. Fine, fruity Crémants d'Alsace, exceptional sweet Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles. 15,500 ha at the foot of the Vosges on varied soils, 51 Grands Crus since 1975.
