Small California AVA in the Central Valley (San Joaquin-Stanislaus confluence near Ripon, ~526 ha established 2001, 2–5°F cooler than surroundings, unique fine sandy soils). Chardonnay is overwhelmingly dominant (90% of AVA acreage) — fresh, structured profile from temperate climate and sandy drainage. Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Viognier and Muscat Canelli as complements, cultivated by McManis, initiator of the AVA.
