Alsatian Grand Cru of Ammerschwihr (unique: blending permitted, like Altenberg-de-Bergheim): Gewurztraminer reigns (55% production) alongside Riesling (30%) and Pinot Gris (9%) — signature profile combining elegance and aromatic power, aromas of exotic fruits, soft spices, rose and minerality. The wine region of Alsace
Capital of great French aromatic whites, most often dry and single-varietal. Straight, mineral Riesling (lemon, gunflint), opulent, exuberant Gewurztraminer (lychee, rose, spices), round, smoky Pinot Gris, floral, crisp Muscat, supple Pinot Blanc. Fine, fruity Crémants d'Alsace, exceptional sweet Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles. 15,500 ha at the foot of the Vosges on varied soils, 51 Grands Crus since 1975.
The word of the wine: Alcoholic fermentation
Transformation of sugars into alcohol under the effect of yeast. These yeasts exist in their natural state in the vineyards and in the cellars. Artificial seeding with selected yeasts is however very often practiced.
