Lively, taut whites with firm acidity and a slender mouth, featuring aromas of citrus, green apple, white flowers, fresh herbs and chalky mineral notes. Often vinified with skin maceration (orange wine), developing amber hues of dried fruits, honey, tannins and oxidative complexity. Signature of great Friulian whites (Collio DOC, Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC) and Slovenia under the name Rebula (Brda). Native Friulian grape.

The wine region of Yamagata-Ken

Prefecture of Tōhoku (Honshū, Japan) with 14 wineries along the Mogami river, sheltered by the Asahi and Ōu mountains, clay-gravel soils. Chardonnay and Merlot as international signatures: taut Chardonnay (citrus, apple, flowers, minerality) and supple Merlot (plum, black cherry, spices, fine tannins). Native Kōshū lively and delicate (citrus, flowers, cooked rice) and Riesling Lyon as whites. Tsuruoka Kōshū 2021 served at the Hiroshima G7.
