The wine region of Nierstein
Iconic Rhenish-Hessian village on the left bank of the Rhine, steep slopes of the Roter Hang with signature red soils (clay, ferruginous sandstone, hematite, red slate). Riesling signature as white king: ripe and elegant with peach, apricot, apple, citrus, white flowers and typical ferruginous mineral hint, vibrant acidity — from racy dry to noble sweet. VDP Grand Crus: Brudersberg, Pettenthal, Glöck, Hipping, Ölberg, Orbel. Exceptional straight whites for long ageing.
The wine region of Rheinhessen
71% white region: Riesling is king (5,000 ha), dry to off-dry, ripe yellow fruit, apple, citrus and fine saline minerality. Supple, floral Müller-Thurgau for everyday, the world's largest Silvaner plantation with herbaceous, straight notes. Historic cradle of off-sweet Liebfraumilch. Some supple reds (Dornfelder, Spätburgunder).
The word of the wine: Pressing Rosé
A method of making rosé wine that consists of pressing the grapes directly after crushing and light skin maceration. The resulting wine is lively, light and pale.
