For fear of competition with the pinot noir of Burgundy, gamay was finally uprooted and planted in the Beaujolais region, from Mâcon to Lyon. Chiroubles is an appellation for the red wines of Beaujolais. Like all the red wines of the region, they are made from the Gamay Grape.
