This grape variety was known for a long time in the central region of Italy and is now cultivated in almost all the wine-producing regions of this country. Under the name of peverella, it can still be found in Brazil, where it has occupied large areas for a long time. In France, it is almost unknown. Languedoc (formerly Coteaux du Languedoc) is a key appellation used in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of southern France. It covers Dry table wines of all three colors (red, white and rosé) from the entire region, but leaves Sweet and Sparkling wines to other more specialized appellations.
