The wine region of Pico
Emblematic Azorean DOC on the volcanic island of Pico, UNESCO vineyards in currais (black lava-stone walls sheltering the vines), basaltic soils. Verdelho is the historic signature white (18th c. , exported to Russian tsars): dry and taut with intense aromas of citrus, tropical fruits, white flowers and a volcanic mineral-saline touch. Arinto and Terrantez as vibrant complementary whites.
