The wine region of Alsace Grand Cru 'Frankstein'
Grand Cru of Dambach-la-Ville on four hillsides of very fissured pebbly sandy shallow granite, slightly acidic. Signature Riesling on ideal granite: delicate floral aromas of elderflower, acacia and almond blossom, palate with blackcurrant bud and fresh mint, refined granite minerality, finesse and tension preserved. Gewurztraminer (49%), Riesling (27%), Pinot Gris (22%) and Muscat as complements.
The wine region of Alsace
Capital of great French aromatic whites, most often dry and single-varietal. Straight, mineral Riesling (lemon, gunflint), opulent, exuberant Gewurztraminer (lychee, rose, spices), round, smoky Pinot Gris, floral, crisp Muscat, supple Pinot Blanc. Fine, fruity Crémants d'Alsace, exceptional sweet Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles. 15,500 ha at the foot of the Vosges on varied soils, 51 Grands Crus since 1975.
The word of the wine: Cinsault
Cinsault is a southern black grape variety that can be found in the blends of most Mediterranean appellations, but most often as an accessory grape variety. It is undoubtedly most present in certain rosé wines (in Corbières, Côtes-de-Provence, etc.): it gives these wines highly appreciated aromas of strawberry, peach and raspberry. In vin de pays (IGP), it is often vinified on its own, usually as a rosé.
