This variety is the result of an intraspecific cross between Pinot Noir and Pirovano 1 (Chasselas rose x Hamburg Muscat), obtained in 1939 by Heinrich Birk at the Geinsenheim Research Station (Germany). The wine region of Loire Valley
The Loire Valley is a key wine region in western France.
