The wine region of Circeo
Lazio DOC of the Tyrrhenian coast south of Rome (Latina, Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo, Terracina), sandy soils facing the Circeo promontory. Merlot (≤55%) as the signature red — supple and generous with bright plum, black cherry, red fruits and a balsamic-sunny touch, round tannins. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon as structured complements. Trebbiano Toscano and Chardonnay as fresh signature whites with white flowers, citrus and a saline touch.
The wine region of Lazio
Two-millennia Roman vineyard, predominantly white on the volcanic soils of the Castelli Romani. Frascati DOC as figurehead: fresh, accessible whites based on Malvasia and Trebbiano, notes of green apple, white flowers and almond, slightly bitter finish. Also Bellone and Grechetto. Emblematic red: Cesanese del Piglio DOCG, fleshy with notes of ripe cherry, dry herbs and spice, round tannins.
The word of the wine: Heavy
