Lively, structured dry whites with a pale golden robe, a taut palate and a signature high acidity, with refined aromas of citrus (lemon, grapefruit), green apple, white flowers (acacia) and mineral notes. Fine ageing potential, bringing freshness and length to blends. A traditional component of the sparkling wines (espumantes) of Bairrada and dry whites of Dão DOC. Autochthonous Portuguese white variety from Bairrada and Dão.

The wine region of Vernaccia di Serrapetrona

DOCG of the Marche, province of Macerata (first DOCG of the Marche 2004, vineyards at 200–600 m on calcareous-clayey-sandy-marly hillsides, temperate climate moderated by the Adriatic 60 km away and the Apennines, breezes and modulating fogs): Vernaccia Nera is the native signature (≥85%) — a unique naturally sparkling red by triple fermentation, aromas of red fruits and spices. Sangiovese, Montepulciano or Ciliegiolo (≤15%) as complements, historical secco and dolce versions.

The wine region of Marche

Italian star of Verdicchio: exceptional age-worthy whites, straight and mineral with signature notes of green almond, lemon, green apple, dry herbs and a slightly bitter finish. Two DOCGs: Castelli di Jesi (coastal, airy) and Matelica (inland, more concentrated). Mediterranean reds: fleshy Montepulciano in Rosso Conero near Ancona, supple Sangiovese. Also fresh Pecorino and Passerina.

The word of the wine: Castle

A term often used to designate wineries, even if they do not have a real castle.
