Opulent, heady whites, rich and silky, with intense aromas of apricot, yellow peach, mango, violet, honeysuckle and musky, honeyed notes. Discreet acidity, creamy finish. Star of Condrieu AOC and Château-Grillet AOC, co-vinified in Côte-Rôtie with Syrah (up to 20%). Widely exported to California (Central Coast), Australia (Eden Valley) and Languedoc. A Rhône variety.
Island DOC in the Gulf of Naples (classified as early as 1966, Italy's 2nd DOC), volcanic soils on Monte Epomeo, steep terraces, breezy Mediterranean climate. Biancolella is the exclusive signature white: dry and floral with citrus, white flowers, exotic fruits and a volcanic mineral note. Forastera (30–55% of the Bianco) fuller with herbal notes and a saline touch. Piedirosso as a fruity red and supple Guarnaccia.
