Lively, taut whites with a slender palate and fresh acidity, with aromas of citrus (lemon, grapefruit), green apple, white flowers, pear and discreet herbal notes. Refreshing finish; best drunk young. A cold- and disease-resistant interspecific variety, it produces whites and sparkling wines in the UK (Kent, Sussex), Canada (Quebec, Ontario) and the northeastern US. French hybrid created by Bertille Seyve (Seyve-Villard 5-276).
North Carolina's 3rd AVA (2009) centred on the Haw River near Burlington, sandy-loamy soils. Muscadine (Vitis rotundifolia) as the autochthonous signature in full-bodied reds and whites with intense exotic fruit, musky grape and a candied touch, generous sweetness. Chambourcin hybrid, supple with red fruits and spices, and lively Seyval Blanc with citrus and white flowers as complements. Structured Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay vinifera.
