A very old variety grown most often in Kakhetia (Georgia). It can also be found in Moldavia, Ukraine, Dagestan, Central Asia... almost unknown in France.
The wine region of Telavi is located in the region of Kakheti of Georgia. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Marani or the Domaine Marani produce mainly wines white, red and sweet. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Telavi are Saperavi, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Goruli mtsvane, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Telavi often reveals types of flavors of cherry, tree fruit or orange and sometimes also flavors of nutty, non oak or earth.
